As many firsts there are for the baby there are just as many for the parents. It seems as if we will always be on a learning curve. Yes, we start to come into our own and start to realize what works best for the three of us when a situation comes along, but Jack is on the fast track to growing up! I'm sure one day he will do something that will just leave us dumbfounded and we will have to revert back to being a student rather than a teacher. I have to say though, we have done pretty amazing thus far! :)

Happy 10 months, beautiful baby boy!
Jack is 10 months today. I can't believe his 1 year birthday is just around the corner. :( So far, being his mom has been the greatest job, adventure and achievement I have ever had. This time last year I was enduring the heat of the summer as I sit 7 months pregnant. I can't believe our 1 year is almost over. Not only will we be celebrating our son's first birthday, but also celebrating Ram and I's survival of the first year. It was tough some times, but we pulled through and stayed the best parents we can be. I am proud to be taking the journey with you babe and blessed to have you in my life. There couldn't be a better father for Jack.
On another note, I have already decided on a theme for our little man. Ever since he was born everyone said he had a little mustache and that he seemed older than what he really was. Well, it makes sense to throw him a Little Man Mustache Bash! I am so excited and already picked the colors and designer. :)

What is wrong with me??
So I was told worrying before the baby arrived was normal and I thought it was extreme then. Now that Jack is here, I worry about everything every second of the day. It gets worse - if I'm about to do something with him or someone else is I think about the worst thing that could happen in that situation! Why is that? Why can't I just live for the moment and not stress over my baby's well-being. It is not that I don't trust the people he is with, but I just continue to think about the bad. Maybe it's a OCD thing and if I don't worry I feel like I'm a bad mother or something. Weird, huh? It could be that the older he gets, the more he can get into and so it's more of a task to keep an eye on him. Not to brag, but Jack did learn how to sit, stand, pull himself up in a standing position and transfer himself from one thing to another pretty early! Now he is starting to stand on his own for seconds at a time. And of course, everything goes to his mouth first. He has found the tags on stuffed animals and now that is what he looks for so he can put it in his mouth. I know he can bite it off too bc I have caught the whole thing in the roof of his mouth once and it scared me to death! But that does not stop him. "Le gusta la mala vida" He lives dangerously, my mom likes to say. So now I have you make sure the tag is cut completely off.
I guess the worrying will never end for parents. Even when he is 45 I'll still worry. How does the saying go? "Deciding to have a baby is to decide forever to let your heart go walking around outside your body..."? Something like that! :)

Happy, talking, crawling, beautiful baby boy!
It has been a while since I have written in my blog. Ive been through many changes since the last post. I went through losing a job and gaining another, the everyday changes we went through as parents and the growth of our now 9 month old baby boy! I couldn't really find the time anymore to blog and that is something I had to learn to live with. And that goes for any other hobby or activity pre-Jack. And when my time isn't occupied, it is enough to eat, clean and shower. BUT to be perfectly honest, i wouldn't want it any other way. Jack has grown so much in such a little time. I am already starting to think of ideas for his big 1st birthday hoohah!!
Here is an update on our precious baby....
Even though it is baby jibberish, he can talk your ear off and when he sees a "toy" (mainly anything he isn't supposed to play with) he grabs at it. He's a determined little guy and seems like he is studying us all. His new trick is to spit by using his tongue. For lack of trying to find the words to explain I will show you (pic below of him and his daddy).
He just had his 9 month check up and is doing great! Weighs 20lbs now and is 30 inches long - above average on height. We are hoping for a least a 6 footer! :) He is an amazing little baby and no matter what he does, it seems to put a smile on my face. I love it when he crosses his hands while he is sitting and relaxing. Lol. He looks so smart doing it! He loves baths and now can maneuver to where he wants to get out. I think it may be time to get him one of those bath seats....his laugh is the most addicting. You hear it and can't help but laugh too. I love this little guy and my love for him keeps on growing. When I find out someone else is having a baby I jump with excitement because soon they will feel the real love-at-first-sight feeling when they finally get to hold their baby just like i have felt. And will have so much fun with the many adventures they will have along the way.
In another note, Happy Birthday to my now 20 year old sister, Bianca! :)

Time is flying by WAY to fast!
Jack is already 4 months old today and I still can't believe it. He is getting bigger, smarter and more curious as the days go on. And I know there is no way to freeze time, but oh how I wish I could. I never imagined being a mother and now that I am, I can't picture life any other way. I believe I was always supposed to have him. In some way or another, I was always supposed to be his mother and he was always supposed to be my son. If that makes sense. We grow more in love with him as new silly faces or weird noises come out of him. He is starting to scream at the top of his lungs and when he feels like throwing a fit he will start to push on his legs and throw himself back. Oh, but how I love his smile.
It isn't all laughs and giggles though. Sometimes i find myself frustrated because I don't know what he wants. He has already been changed, fed, burped and I know he's tired, but he won't sleep in my arms or the swing and when I put him down his arms flail everywhere as he continues to scratch himself. Then you have to literally hold them down in order for him to be calm. I HATE being frustrated with him. At night when he wakes up constantly and I don't know whats wrong, is when I get most frustrated then I cry because I feel like a bad mother. As much as Ram has helped and is there, I don't think he will ever understand the pressures a mother goes through. I have come to have a greater respect for my own mother because she did it four times.
There are days where I have to learn to let him cry. He is starting to get used to arms and knows when he starts to whimper we run. It is quite funny how smart he is. Yesterday, for example, I put him in the swing, but he was not having it. I figured maybe he needed to burp, get changed or something. NOPE! As soon as I sat him on my lap facing the TV he was calm. His face was priceless.
No matter what he does, my love for him will continue to grow. And I can never stay too mad at him.
P.S. I love to watch him sleep.

11.11.11
I cannot believe that my baby is already 2 months. It seems like just yesterday he was born, yet time has flown by so fast. It hits me everyday how he won't be this little very much longer...I wish time would stay still so we could live in these moments as long as we wanted to. He is so precious and curious of the world he lives in. He talks a lot and sometimes we actually have conversations. I hear talking to them at an early age and trying to get them to imitate your noises is a good exercise.
It was hard going back to work full-time. I cried the week before knowing I would be leaving him everyday for at least 8 hours. This Monday I knew that he knew I had to leave him again. He is so happy every morning, but when it is time for me to tell him good-bye he gets real quiet and gives me a funny look. Then when I finally get home to him you can tell he has been missing me. If he is awake there are signs he wants to be in my arms. He'll flail his arms as he moves his body up and down as if to let me know to pick him up. It is the cutest ever. Or he'll smile real big when he hears my voice. It makes me happy in the moment, but it breaks my heart that I leave him feeling like that. I hope in some small fraction he knows that I don't want to leave and that it is just routine, but that I always go back. I would hate to leave him if he thought I was never coming back....so I'll try not to think about that.
On a another note, Thanksgiving is coming up and I am SO ready for the yummy food. I have to find a cute outfit for Jack to wear. I also need to start buying jackets, winter hats and gloves. So excited for my brother and cousin to finally meet him!! I think I might cry when I see their reactions. Especially my brothers.
Well, today is a good day and I am blessed!

I'm a Mama!
So I had my precious baby boy 9/11/11 (he wouldn't be my son if he didn't make a big entrance lol) at 3:39am. He was 7 lbs 11 oz and 20 inches long. He came out with a head full of hair and very light skinned. And his full name is Jack Dylan Munguia. When I explain my "labor story" other mothers gasp at how easy I had it. No Pain. No Contractions. No Complications. The only thing that freaked me out was once the nurse told me I was dilated to 10 centimeters I started to get uncontrollable shakes. Had I not been in labor people would have thought I was having a seizure - that bad! They calmed down once the baby arrived.
I may not know what labor pains feel like, but the whole delivery experience is indescribable. I get butterflies when I relive the moments of my baby's first cry and when they laid him on my chest. He melted my heart and has every day since then. It's hard to even find the words to describe how I felt and how I feel every day knowing our baby is here, perfect and beautiful. I love being his mother. He is so precious.

It's funny, when a woman is pregnant there is no real way of finding out what the baby will look like, but in some weird way I couldn't imagine Jack looking any other way. Its like my heart knew. The perfect combination of us.
Being a mother is hands down the best feeling in the world.
